FT290R multi-mode 2 metre transceiver
This is an old workhorse of amateur radio.
It is a 2M, multimode portable which can run with or without an external
12V PSU. Still quite favoured as an exciter for transverters or linear
amplifiers, it is built like the proverbial brick outhouse. Large numbers
were sold in the U.K. and they are commonly available for around £100.
hey seem reliable in general and most components are discrete and can be
replaced. The filiament bulb used to light the display and the gues'S'
meter is unreliable and a real pig to replace. The user manual is excellent.
